In 1989, while building a desktop shelf unit for his daughter in college, Bob Sutherland
developed the Shelf Expressions concept. This modular, NO TOOLS, product
was unique and exciting. The applications for a product like this seemed unlimited.

Shelf Expressions products utilize small pieces of scrap wood
created from another manufacturing process.
This is not only a cost saving issue, but also an environmental one, too!
People who saw a demonstration of how easily the product could be
setup, adjusted  taken apart for easy storage
 were enthusiastic  eager to own something from Shelf Expressions!

Bob decided the task now was to get the shelves where people could see them.
The first commercial Shelf Expressions order was shipped to a local futon store in 1991.
In Spring 1999, Shelf Expressions began development of a website  in the Fall,
expanded  their market by making it an e-commerce website. Thanks to our valued customers,
our internet sales are strong and growing on a daily basis.
